Gesang, Lyrics, Songwriting
Julia Warner is half American and half Austrian and lives in Vienna. She formed her own band in 2000 called The Streakers for which she writes the songs.
After completing her vocal training in jazz at Prayner Konservatorium in 1998 she attended a songwriting workshop at the Schule für Dichtung/Vienna Poetry School with Nick Cave. This led her to focusing more on her own music and development as a songwriter.
Her comments on the Nick Cave class appear in the book Viva la Poesia which was published in 2003, Residenz Verlag. She also performs as a singer on two of the tracks on the CD that comes with the book: Viva la Poesia and With Your Eyes.
She attended other poetry-workshops at the sfd with Steven Taylor, Anne Waldmann and Ruth Weiss.
She also performs with her own jazz group Elastic Band, but her main interest lies in writing songs for her band The Streakers.
The song Go Away has been chosen to appear on the 2003 Projekt-Pop compilation CD.
In November 2003 she flew to LA to attend a three-day music convention called Taxi Road Rally, where she took part in songwriting workshops with acclaimed songwriters: Steve Seskin (currently Nashville's hottest hit-songwriter), Cat Cohen (hit songwriter and producer) and Pat Pattison from Berkley College of Music.
She is available as a lyricist-for-hire for any project that needs help developing, correcting or writing English lyrics.
